What to watch for: The Boston Celtics are undefeated when Jayson Tatum plays basketball this season. It’s only been two games, but that statement is still true. Now, they'll put that record to the test against one of the other hottest teams in basketball: The San Antonio Spurs.

Boston has been on fire lately, winning eight of its last 10 games. And Tatum coming back has only added another layer to their already-dominant rotation.

Tale of the tape: The Celtics and Spurs faced off back on January 10, and Victor Wembanyama got the best of Boston in a 100-95 victory.

Wembanyama came off the bench in that game, as he was still recovering from an injury, but he still finished with 21 points and three blocks in 26:25.

Derrick White and Jaylen Brown combined for 56 points, but it wasn’t enough.

Last game: The Celtics are fresh off a big-time, 109-98 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday afternoon.

Brown put up 23 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists, and Baylor Scheierman had a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench.

Standings check-in: The Detroit Pistons are on a four-game losing streak, which means the Celtics are now just 2.5 games back of the first seed in the Eastern Conference.

Meanwhile, the New York Knicks lost their last game. So, the Celtics are also three games up on the Knicks in third.

Spurs check-in: San Antonio is one of the hottest teams in the league. They’ve won four straight games and are 9-1 in their last 10 games.

Wembanyama has been on a two-way tear. In his last 10 games, he’s averaged 21.9 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.2 steals, and 4.5 blocks while shooting 48.0% from the field and 30.4% from deep on 5.6 three-point attempts per contest.

De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle have been right behind Wembanyama. In their last 10 games, Fox is averaging 16.3 points and 6.2 assists, and Castle is averaging 15.3 points and 6.7 assists.

Devin Vassell and Julian Champagnie have both been red-hot from deep in their last 10. Vassell is shooting 50.0% on 6.4 attempts, and Champagnie is shooting 51.7% omn 6.0 attempts.

One fun play: Watch Luka Garza on this play. He sets the screen for White, then dives into the paint, where he sets a Gortat screen.

Named after former Washington Wizards big man Marcin Gortat, a Gortat screen is when a big man screens for a ball handler and then screens his own man, sealing him off so the ball handler can get an open lane.

Former Celtics big man Daniel Theis was great at these screens, too. He would just seal off a defender, providing an open lane for his teammate to score.

He even ended up screening Dean Ware here, too. A two-for-one deal.
